Five years was the last time Kings of Leon came out with an album. They are most well recognized for their songs, “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody.” I have had the privilege of seeing them in concert in 2017. In all honesty, I was a little disappointed that all their songs sounded alike. Just because they have a distinct voice does not mean that all their songs sound the same. I’m talking about the instrumentals and tone of the 2016 album “Walls.” For example, I can easily pick out a Foster the People or Panic! At the Disco song based on their voice, each of their songs is unique.

However, back to Kings of Leon, they just released two new songs less than a week ago to tease their upcoming album release in March. The song I’ll be focusing on is “The Bandit,” and the more I listen to it, the more it is growing on me. If I were to take the lyrics’ literal route, a bandit is a robber or outlaw, and they are trying to catch the said thief. The lyrics “tracks in the dirt for days, sniff out the fire ablaze” showcases their hungry need to catch the bandit. The song is repetitive, making it catchy and easy to grove too.

This is definitely not the last time I'll be writing about them, considering their new album will be released in two months.
